Sliding menu Creating image resources
You have a choice between internal and external
graphics resources to allow a maximum
degree of user-configurability of appearance. Internal
graphics, while faster, are also aesthetically restrictive.
We supply you with a range of sample external graphics, but
you may well wish to create your own.
1. Background and border images are
easy to create. Remember that both these image types
are tiled by the applets to fit, if necessary.
2. Scrollbar graphics. We offer you the
facility of designing your own scrollbars. The scrollbars
are constructed from a specially formatted image file.
Instructions are here.
3. Button graphics. The button applets use a special system of base and overlay
images, involving (up to) 2 graphics files, each consisting
of images stuck together.
Instructions are here.
4. Tree icons. Tree applets normally
have icons to the left of the text. These may be open/closed
folder symbols, or icons distinguishing the character
of the entry. In addition, our tree applets offer the unusual
capability of redesigning the tree structure itself - i.e.
the lines and symbols making up the connections. Thus you
can have a Mac-style arrows system, a Windows-style folder/page
system, or anything your imagination (or ours) can create.
Instructions are here.
5. Tag graphics. Tag graphics are the
small symbols that frequently follow textual entries in
web indices. They frequently act as markers
for "new", "updated", "cool" and similar attributes. Graphic
tags of this kind can easily be used with our menus - with
mouse-sensitive changes if desired. You can also use them
as substitutes for text. Instructions are here.
